Mowing the lawn is a household chore that must be done, but is it important when you mow it? It has been found that there is a best time for it. "It's better to mow when the turf or leaves are dry," says Clint Waltz, turfgrass specialist at the University of Georgia. Waltz says the best time to mow the lawn is in the morning, or even around 5:30 or 6 p.m. when the grass is dry. To mow better, you should sharpen your lawnmower blades twice a season to make clean cuts and not tear the grass. Also, make sure to mow at the right height to "optimize the density of the canopies, root depth, and volume". Avoid mowing right after a rain shower, as wet grass is messy, sticks to the mower, and leaves grass clumps.
