The "Better-than-Average Effect" describes the tendency of people to consider themselves as above-average intelligent or capable. A study from Turkey showed that about 80 percent of participants perceived themselves as above-average intelligent, which is unlikely as the majority of the population falls within the average range. In the study, men tended to attribute themselves higher intelligence scores than women. Self-doubt can be particularly problematic in the workplace, as self-confidence is important in salary negotiations. It is recommended to overcome self-doubt. Mensa can be used for a quick IQ test, but it is not a formal IQ test.
