Customs seizes 21 million untaxed cigarettes

Customs seized 21 million untaxed cigarettes in two operations at the Skandinavienkai in Lübeck-Travemünde at the end of last year – the largest quantity in years. The Kiel Customs Office announced this on Wednesday. The findings consist of untaxed and partially counterfeit cigarettes. They were intended to be transported to Poland and Belgium. The smuggling was aimed at evading taxes amounting to 3.6 million euros. The cigarettes are now being held by customs and will be incinerated after the legal proceedings.
