“We want to make hidden child poverty visible,” says co-author Wolfgang Büscher, who has published the book “The Crime Against Our Children - Why Young People Fail and What We Must Do About It” (Bonifatius Verlag) together with Bernd Siggelkow. In conversation with KiVVON chief reporter Frank Überall, he talks about how young people are supported in the 35 houses of the Christian aid organization “Die Arche”. Among other things, it is about why people queue for hours for food packages and that 4.50 euros for ALL meals of a child per day cannot guarantee a healthy diet. Büscher argues that there would be no need for troubled schools if children were evenly distributed among all schools. The role of support associations is also critically examined in the conversation. Furthermore, children from citizen income families are sometimes even bullied by teachers. Respect is always at the center of attention in the aid facilities of the “Arche”. Büscher also harshly and provocatively criticizes the concept of child basic security and the injustice of the education system. He argues for a basic endowment and that young people who do not want to work should no longer receive financial support from the state.
