Thanks to MQB evo, the Tiguan can implement various types of drives. There will be turbo diesel engines (TDI), turbo petrol engines (TSI), mild hybrid turbo petrol engines (eTSI), and plug-in hybrid systems (eHybrid) in the future, which will be offered exclusively in conjunction with the automatic transmission (DSG). Similar to the Volkswagen ID. models and the new Passat, the choice of driving mode will be made in the future via a steering column lever to the right of the steering wheel with self-explanatory operation: turn forward to "D" for forward driving, turn backward to "R" for reverse driving, push sideways to activate the parking brake. In addition, all Tiguan models have paddle shifters behind the steering wheel.
