Drinking water emergency in Spain: Extreme drought turns into disaster

Fuente: WEATHER STORY (Glomex)

The record heat in April further exacerbates the extreme drought in southern Spain and reaches new dimensions: First regions are now experiencing a drinking water emergency. Already, first mountain villages north of Córdoba have to be supplied with drinking water by truck on a daily basis. The water quality of the water that bubbles out of the drinking faucet is too poor. Surrounding rivers and reservoirs have largely dried up. Residents have to stand in line in the sweltering heat to tap drinking water directly from the truck using water canisters and plastic bottles. For one day, we accompany a drinking water supplier at his work while he distributes the water to the surrounding villages.
