The Lexus RX 450h+ - hybrid system driving modes

All-electric EV mode is the default setting: the RX 450h+ always starts up fully electric and uses the available range - regardless of how hard the driver presses the gas pedal. The larger lithium-ion battery and more powerful electric motors deliver an effortless and refined driving experience. Alternatively, the driver can activate Auto EV/HV mode: The hybrid engine automatically engages when additional power is needed, then returns to EV mode immediately afterwards. The driver can also select HV mode to preserve the current battery charge level, saving the all-electric range for a later time. In battery charge mode, the engine charges the hybrid battery. This ensures that more range is available when EV driving is required - for example, before entering an environmental zone.
