How much should you spend on a date?

A recent survey found that the average person spent $3,025.12 on dates last year. That's an average of $189 per date, which is what respondents would expect to spend on a good date, about $196. The survey also found that men have higher expectations for the cost of a date, about $220 compared to $170 for women. The average person spent about $360 on gifts for their partner last year, with one in five reporting spending over $500. Men generally spent more money on gifts, $430 a year, while women spent an average of $272. This seems to be an important factor, as 35% of respondents said they would judge their partner if they didn't receive a gift on a special occasion. 31% of respondents believe that less money should be spent on dates the longer the relationship lasts. And nearly half believe it's okay to take someone on a date considered "budget-friendly" or even free.
