Gold beating town Schwabach: A dying craft

источник: TVF FERNSEHEN IN FRANKEN PROGRAMM GMBH (Glomex)

At the end of the 1920s, there were around 130 gold beaters in Schwabach - today there are only two. Werner Auer learned the dying craft from scratch. He passes on his knowledge during guided tours in the museum. The rolled gold is first cut into small pieces and stacked between mongolfie paper. The resulting packet is then wrapped in leather and worked with a hammer, and later mechanically with a spring hammer.
