Honda has model-updated the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade (SP) for the 2024 model year in numerous details. Changes to cylinder head, compression, valve control, crankshaft, connecting rods, and gearbox result in a power increase in the mid-range as well as in the spectacular peak power. The power delivery of the 217.6 hp four-cylinder is fundamentally changed to generate more acceleration at corner exit. The increased performance is further enhanced by a shorter drive ratio, a newly designed mid fairing with new winglets, and a frame with revised flex behavior that enhances steering precision and traction. A 2-motor throttle by wire system has been added, allowing optimized control under partial load and, if necessary, permitting stronger engine braking effect. The engine case, crankshaft, and connecting rods have been lightened, while changes to the standard Akrapovič exhaust reduce noise emissions by 5 dB. The 2024 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP is the first production bike equipped with Öhlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C 3.0) suspension components. The 43 mm NPX fork and the TTX36 rear shock of the 3rd generation feature internals with slide valves (Spool Valves). The dual disc brake is actuated by new Brembo Stylema R four-piston calipers and a Brembo hand brake pump, while the cornering ABS received a new RACE mode that allows deactivation of rear wheel intervention.
