Wendy Williams admitted to hospital after police welfare check

Wendy Williams was admitted to the hospital after authorities conducted a welfare check at her assisted living facility, confirmed the NYPD. According to the New York Post, the 60-year-old Williams allegedly threw a note out of her window with the words "Help! Wendy!". Rescue workers took her to a local hospital for evaluation. Williams has been under legal guardianship since May 2022, with court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey managing her health and finances. She is fighting to end the guardianship and denies being "cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated". In an interview in January, Williams described her facility as a "prison" and said she was surrounded by older residents and could not freely leave. She claimed the elevators were locked, visitors were restricted, and she did not know what medications were being administered to her. Hours later, Morrissey requested a new medical evaluation. Diagnosed with dementia in 2023, Williams stated in a February documentary that she had not seen a doctor for months. She said she spent a year in Connecticut without medical care and remained without an appointment for another six to seven months after entering the facility. Speaking to Banfield, Williams said she had lived in the facility's "memory unit" for almost a year, describing it as "suffocating". She expressed her frustration with her lack of independence, stating, "I don't have the freedom to do practically anything."
