Meloni says Italy will only recognize Palestine when Hamas releases hostages amid protests
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said Tuesday that she is not opposed to recognizing a Palestinian state, but that two conditions must be met: the release of hostages held by Hamas and the exclusion of this Islamist movement from a future government. "I am not opposed to the recognition of Palestine, but we must set priorities," Meloni told the Italian press in New York, where she will speak at the UN General Assembly.
