Former Indonesian death row prisoner Serge Atlaoui released in France
Serge Atlaoui, former death row inmate in Indonesia for drug trafficking, transferred and incarcerated in February in France, is released from Meaux prison (Seine-et-Marne) after twenty years of detention. Atlaoui was arrested in 2005 near Jakarta, accused of being a drug lab "chemist", a claim he always denied, stating he only installed machinery. Initially sentenced to life, he was later condemned to death in 2007. A 2015 execution was halted at the last minute after diplomatic appeals from France. IMAGES
