Accident by wrong-way driver on the B 464

Source police: To a traffic accident with a wrong-way driver it came on Sunday about 17:05 o'clock on the B 464 near Holzgerlingen, between the two junctions Holzgerlingen-Nord and Holzgerlingen/Altdorf. Shortly before the accident site, the B 464 divided into two lanes in each direction, separated by a concrete barrier. A 61-year-old Mitsubishi driver was driving on the B 464 and, for reasons as yet unknown, switched to the opposite lane at the lane divider. After the first oncoming road users were able to avoid the wrong-way driver, he collided head-on with an oncoming Skoda of a 71-year-old. The 71-year-old driver and his two passengers, a 44-year-old female passenger and another ten-year-old female passenger, were slightly injured. The 44-year-old was taken to hospital by an ambulance. Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy after the accident and had to be towed away. The damage to property amounted to around 23,000 euros. During the accident investigation, the B 464 at the Holzgerlingen-Nord junction was completely closed for around two hours. A rescue helicopter was also deployed and landed in the area of the accident site. The 61-year-old Mitsubishi driver, who was presumably under the influence of medication, was subsequently taken to hospital to have his blood taken. In addition, his driver's license was confiscated by the police. The Böblingen police station, Tel. 07031 13-2500, is looking for further witnesses to the accident as well as road users who were endangered by the wrong-way driver.
