World premiere in the Fire Brigade Museum: "Piano from Ahrweiler" gives hope in deepest despair

Source: Osthessen|News (Glomex)

It is a symbol of hope: the so-called "Piano from Ahrweiler" with the inscription "Play me!". The instrument, which has been transferred to the German Fire Brigade Museum in Fulda, still bears the traces of the flood; mud can be seen on closer inspection. The memory of the flood disaster in western Germany in the summer of 2021 is still present. "It is a memorial to victims and helpers. As part of International Museum Day, under the motto 'Power of Museums,' the power of culture becomes clear once again," explains Rolf Schamberger, the director of the DFM. "In moments of deepest grief and despair, courage and confidence can be found with music."
