Jakobskreuzkraut: Poison in Honey?

When the roadsides are lined with yellow flowers in July and August, it is usually the Jacob's cross herb, also called Jacob's ragwort. The plant contains toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids. These accumulate in the liver, are suspected of causing cancer, and can lead to death in both animals and humans.
