Region in transition: The revival of lignite villages?

The region around the Garzweiler opencast lignite mine has been threatened with extinction for many decades. A total of 16 villages have been swallowed up and the inhabitants resettled. In some villages, however, the inhabitants are allowed to stay. But what is life like in the rescued ghost villages? Reporter Claire Oelkers was on site and spoke with the people.
