Two women were seriously injured in a dramatic traffic accident at around 07:40 on Friday on the B 16 trunk road, about one kilometer north of Wattenweiler. The two women, 25 and 58 years old, were so seriously injured that they had to be flown immediately by rescue helicopters to specialized hospitals. Women narrowly saved - cars in flames This is how the head-on collision happened: A 25-year-old female driver was driving in the direction of Krumbach and came onto the oncoming lane in the area of a slight right-hand bend. There she collided head-on with the car of a 58-year-old woman. Both vehicles were totally damaged in the collision. Fortunately, the two women were not trapped in their cars and could be freed by first responders who reacted in an exemplary manner. And not a minute too soon, because shortly after the women were rescued, one of the cars caught fire. The flames spread to the other car - both burned out completely. The fire departments from Wattenweiler, Ellzee, Neuburg, Unterwiesenbach and Ichenhausen were on the scene with around 50 emergency personnel and extinguished the fire. They were also deployed to regulate traffic, as the B16 was completely closed until 10:00 am. First responders and witnesses sought Since witnesses and first responders had already left the scene of the accident by the time the police arrived, they are asked to contact the Krumbach police department at 08282/905-0.
