The New Compass has been developed to speak a more European language, courtesy of the enhanced quality of the finishes and its advanced on board technology. It also introduces major new features that take it to an even higher level in terms of design, safety, technology and functionality. Where does its secret lie? In combining two souls of Jeep – the off-road and urban spirit – to meet the needs of customers in the C-SUV segment. Rational, factual people, they are also fascinated by the possibility of getting away from their daily routines: we call them “pragmatic dreamers”. The new model has a strong aesthetic character, enhanced by a refined and distinctive style – which remains true to the brand’s styling cues, excellent driving dynamics and more sophisticated safety and connectivity. All this crowned by the renowned Jeep 4x4 capability, a feature honed over 80 years of leadership in off-road driving. In short, whether concerned with a pragmatic need for mobility or the desire to experience exciting everyday ‘adventures’, the answer lies in the New Compass, which offers a balance between performance and emotions, rational usage and dreams of freedom and adventure. All in the name of the brand’s claim: “Go Anywhere, Do Anything”. Because, 80 years later, Jeep remains Jeep.
In addition to the exterior makeover, the interior of the C5 Aircross has also been given a more modern look, with improvements in comfort and technology that are apparent as soon as you climb into the car. The C5 Aircross now has a new 10-inch touchscreen that appears to be floating on the dashboard, improving ergonomics by providing direct access to the climate controls and greater readability. The air vents are now below the screen and designed with a new horizontal design. The high and large center console has also been revised and optically tidied up. The new small gear selector switch replaces the previous large gear selector lever on vehicles with automatic transmission, accompanied by the control for selecting the driving mode (electric, hybrid or sport) on the hybrid version. The center console also features a new storage compartment and a second, additional USB port. Customers can choose between the modern standard version and four new Advanced Comfort interior ambiences: Wild Black, Urban Black, Metropolitan Black and Hype Black. The blue visible seams of the five interior ambiences are harmoniously coordinated with the seams of the armrests in the doors and the decorative strips on the dashboard.
With a sharpened design, the modernised CLS will arrive in European dealerships in August 2021. The front end in particular, with new radiator grilles and bumpers, expresses the dynamism of the four-door coupé even more strongly. At the same time, the interior has been upgraded with additional leather and trim combinations as well as a new-generation steering wheel. A latest-generation diesel with integrated starter-generator expands the model range. A strictly limited special model of the Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4MATIC+ (combined fuel consumption 9.0-8.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 206-199 g/km) forms the sportily exclusive spearhead. Thanks to a comprehensive update last summer, with upgrades to the driving assistance systems, the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system and ENERGIZING Comfort, the CLS was already up-to-date technologically.
