Creating an iconic vehicle to set the tone for a luxury automaker is no simple task. The first-generation LS debuted in 1989 with this monumental goal to help shape the brand. It built the foundation of Lexus with the high praise earned by its exceptional quietness and comfort. Chief Branding Officer and Master Driver Akio Toyoda positions the LS―in all its generations―as “a model that gives rise to transformation through the spirit of constant innovation and by providing new technologies and value for the times.” The 2021 Lexus LS looks to build on the success of the all-new LS that launched in 2018, adding additional refinement and technology to an already strong dynamic package. The LS, like all Lexus vehicles, relies on core principals of the brand such as Takumi craftsmanship, or a meticulous artisanship to its construction, and Omotenashi, an anticipatory hospitality that caters to a guest’s needs before they need them. The new LS will also incorporate a new philosophical change to its design known as the Lexus Driving Signature, which looks to set a new standard for vehicle development and refinement moving forward. The 2021 Lexus LS 500 will begin arriving at dealerships in late November of 2020, with a starting MSRP of $76,000. LS 500h models are expected to arrive at dealerships in early 2021, and pricing will be announced closer to that time.
2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Design Preview
The 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing achieve an artful balance between form and function. Descended from the brand’s racing-derived V-Series legacy, the design elements of the new V-Series Blackwing sedans support and complement their track-capable performance, while advancing the V-Series’ motorsports-inspired heritage of styling and enhanced refinement. On the exteriors, wind-tunnel testing and extensive racetrack validation refined the designs to optimize the balance of form and function. On the inside, every unique V-Series Blackwing element, from the available carbon fiber-accented seats to track-specific layouts for the driver information center, was developed for its contribution to driver control.
Hispano Suiza has launched a second model, the Carmen Boulogne, a sportier evolution of the iconic Carmen. The Carmen Boulogne is a fully electric and exclusive hypercar designed, developed and manufactured in Barcelona (Spain), of which only five will be made. The Boulogne name dates back to 1921, when Hispano Suiza made a racing version of its high-performance H6 Coupé and entered it in the George Boillot Cup, an endurance race lasting more than 3.5 hours around the French city of Boulogne. There, Hispano Suiza achieved three consecutive victories with André Dubonnet (1921), Paul Bablot (1922) and Léonce Garnier (1923) driving the mighty Hispano Suiza H6. The Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne pays tribute to these historic motorsport victories with this powered version that delivers 1114 CV (820 kW) - 95 CV more than the Hispano Suiza Carmen - a maximum speed limited to 290 km/h and an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in just 2.6s. The Hispano Suiza Carmen Boulogne weighs 1,630 kg, 60 kg less than the Carmen. This reduction has been achieved thanks to the optimisation of structural elements such as the suspension, the carbon fibre subframe, new CNC parts and a carbon fibre roof, among other things.
The possible uses of game technology and virtual reality applications are manifold in the automotive sector. This is consistently used and expanded in vehicle development. The BMW iX is the first car that has been developed using the game engine we modified for our purposes. BMW’s use of Unreal Engine is invaluable, especially in the strategic innovation fields. You can very quickly create 3D renderings, for example, that take account of light effects and light reflections on different materials, among other things. But most importantly, it allows the functional and user experience to be brought to life and implemented in real time at a very early development stage. These advantages led to the early development of the technology into a global platform.
