New Kia Sorento with Remote Park Assist

In tight parking spaces where the doors cannot be fully opened, getting in or out of the car sometimes requires almost acrobatic skills. The new Kia Sorento, which will be launched in Germany on October 10 as a diesel and hybrid gasoline model, offers a remedy: The fourth generation of the SUV is the first Kia in Europe that can be maneuvered into and out of tight parking spaces or garages by remote control. This is made possible by the "Remote Smart Parking Assist" (RSPA), which is offered for the diesel version (equipment-dependent). The remote control, which the driver uses to control the Sorento from outside, is integrated into the vehicle key, the smart key. The assistance system controls the drive, brakes and steering, while at the same time monitoring the rear surroundings with the rear ultrasonic sensors. If the system detects a risk of collision in this area, for example with an approaching vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist, it automatically brakes the Sorento until the way is clear again.
