The new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series - Most powerful V8 production engine from Mercedes-AMG

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

"The new engine of the GT Black Series is based on the AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with dry sump lubrication, but is given the new internal code M178 LS2 due to the numerous modifications. It produces 537 kW (730 hp) at 6,700-6,900 rpm and provides a maximum torque of 800 Nm at 2,000-6,000 rpm. New camshafts and new exhaust manifolds are adapted to the new firing order and further improve throttle response. As in the top model of the four-door AMG GT Coupe, the two twin-scroll exhaust turbochargers are mounted on anti-friction bearings, which further optimizes their response. In the Black Series, however, the chargers receive a larger compressor wheel, so that the two chargers can pump a total of 1,100 kg of air per hour. By comparison, in the AMG GT R the figure is 900 kg/h. 7,000 rpm is uncritical as a continuous speed; at 7,200 rpm the speed is cut off. And the larger intercoolers guarantee that they can always keep the charge air temperature in the best possible range. The special status of the new engine is also documented by the engine badge, which is in black."
