Elegant presence, refined interior details, improved efficiency thanks to the electrification process and cutting-edge innovations in driver assistance, control systems and connectivity: these features help to consolidate the new BMW 5 Series' position in the premium category as a particularly sporty, efficient and modern model. Like the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, the new BMW 5 Series Touring will also be available with a plug-in hybrid drive system. The use of Mild Hybrid technology with a 48-volt starter generator is extended to all models with four- and six-cylinder engines. Major additional interior features include the display and operating system, which now includes a central Control Display measuring up to 12.3 inches. In addition, the introduction of BMW Operating System 7 now enables BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant services. The addition, for example, of Steering and Lane Control Assistant - with Active Navigation and the new automatic lane function system - to the list of driver assistance systems brings the new BMW 5 Series a few more steps along the road to autonomous driving. The wide variety of technological innovations on board paves the way for BMW's most tradition-rich model range to write another chapter in its success story. More than 600,000 BMW 5 Series Sedan and BMW 5 Series Touring vehicles have been sold worldwide since the current model generation was launched. Market introduction of the new BMW 5 Series will begin in July 2020. Both models will be produced at BMW's Dingolfing plant in Bavaria. The new BMW 5 Series Sedan will also be built by production partner Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. The long-wheelbase version of the Sedan is made exclusively for the Chinese market at BMW Brilliance Automotive's Dadong plant in Shenyang.
