The Paseo del Born, one of Barcelona’s most popular tourist areas, gets transformed into a film set, with cameras and spotlights ready to turn a terrace into the backdrop for a meeting between CUPRA President Wayne Griffiths and actor and CUPRA ambassador Daniel Brühl. This is how the world presentation of the brand’s first 100% electric model begins, in a production with motion picture overtones designed to inspire from Barcelona.
The Audi RS 5 Sportback - The exterior design
" Among the revised RS 5 models meet elegant proportions with details from motorsport. The designers of the RS 5 were particularly inspired by the original Quattro from 1980 and the Sport quattro from 1984. During the revision, the designers have sharpened this character and made some typical details even more striking. The wider and flatter single frame dominates the front section. There are indicated flat air vents between it and the bonnet - reminiscent of the classic Sport quattro from 1984. Its radiator grille with the RS-specific three-dimensional honeycomb structure is glossy black. The outer air inlets act like independent geometric bodies. Their new design gives them even more presence. As in the Singleframe, three-dimensional honeycomb grids fill the inlets, of which the left is closed for optimized aerodynamics in the background and the right supplies the two additional water coolers with air. The air curtain improves the airflow around the RS 5. To do this, an air flow is directed through the bumper along the wheels in the outer segments of the side honeycomb grille. Two spoiler lips on the underside of the front bumper optimize the airflow to the underbody. The result: the best drag coefficient with 0.32. The horizontal blade forms a clear end to the roadway. The RS 5 models come with Matrix LED headlights and dynamic flashing lights as standard. For the first time, Matrix LED headlights with Audi design are available as an option. These are staged RS-specific when unlocking and locking. The silhouette of the revised Audi RS 5 Coupé and RS 5 Sportback continues to fascinate with its classic coupé-like proportions. The wavy shoulder line gives the flank a flowing contour. The wheel arches have been widened by 15 millimeters on each side compared to the previous model. They are reminiscent of the Audi Ur-quattro and leave the RS 5 sitting on the road. The new side skirts support the high-performance appearance and ensure that the RS 5 looks even deeper. "
With its robust appearance and functional versatility, the new BMW X1 embodies an authentic experience of freedom and independence in day-to-day driving and on longer journeys. The interior’s progressive design and sophisticated ambience, and the much broader selection of standard equipment compared to the outgoing model, serve to underline its deeply embedded premium character. At launch in October 2022, there will initially be a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines. These will link up with a seven-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch as standard, and their drive power will be channelled to the road via either the front wheels or the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, depending on the model. This starting quartet will immediately be followed by the all-electric BMW iX1 xDrive30 as well as by a pair of plug-in hybrid models and another two conventionally powered variants with 48V mild hybrid technology. The new BMW X1 will be built at BMW Group Plant Regensburg, where models with combustion engines, plug-in hybrid systems and all-electric drive will all roll off a single assembly line for the first time. The BMW iX1 will bring the experience of locally emission-free driving pleasure to a vehicle segment enjoying worldwide growth, making it accessible to a very wide target audience. The compact SAV powered by the latest BMW eDrive technology will therefore give a major boost to the accelerated ramp-up of electric mobility. The improvements in sustainability compared to the predecessor model can be partly attributed not just to the wide-ranging electrification measures, but also the increased use of green energy, both for production and in the supply chain, and the greater quantities of secondary raw materials and natural materials used.
With the luxury saloon EQS and the sporty executive saloon EQE, Mercedes-Benz has entered a new, all-electric era in the upper market segments as well. The EQS SUV, the third model series with this architecture developed for electric vehicles, will soon follow. The SUV offers plenty of space, comfort and connectivity for up to seven passengers in its avant-garde, luxurious interior. Thanks to powerful electric motors, responsive 4MATIC all-wheel drive and an intelligent OFFROAD driving mode, the EQS SUV is also capable of tackling light terrain with ease. The new EQS SUV shares the long wheelbase (3210 millimetres) with the EQS Saloon, but is over 20 centimetres higher. The dimensions in detail: 5125/1959/1718 millimetres (length/width/height). The interior dimensions benefit from these generous SUV dimensions and from the advantages of the purpose design tailored to the electric platform. The second row of seats can be electrically adjusted as standard. Up to four golf bags fit in the boot. A third row of seats with two additional individual seats and extensive comfort features for all passengers is available as an option.
