Customers will therefore continue to be entitled to a promotional bonus of up to 6,750 euros when purchasing a Golf eHybrid, Golf GTE, Tiguan eHybrid, Arteon eHybrid, Arteon Shooting Brake eHybrid and Passat GTE Variant. In order to continue to be eligible, plug-in hybrids may either emit a maximum of 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer from 2022 or must have a purely electrical minimum range of 60 kilometers (according to WLTP) - previously only 40 kilometers were necessary. "We think it makes sense to adjust the current subsidy, because with the plug-in hybrid, customers can fall back on an important transition technology that brings together the advantages of both systems," says Klaus Zellmer, Member of the Board of Management for Sales, Marketing and After Sales at Volkswagen. “Our plug-in hybrid models that can currently be ordered already meet the stricter requirements that will apply from the beginning of 2022.” In addition to the pure purchase bonus, Klaus Zellmer also suggests the inclusion of user behavior in future funding scenarios. “It is important to use the advantages of the electric motor, especially in short-distance operation. With additional incentives, environmentally conscious behavior can be promoted even more actively and the change to sustainable mobility accelerated. "
