The brand new SEAT Leon has been awarded five stars by the European safety organization Euro NCAP. The new model has thus achieved the top rating - despite new, more stringent test criteria for 2020 - and is now officially one of the safest vehicles on the market. One of the most important changes in the Euro NCAP test procedures in 2020 is the introduction of the test "Frontal impact on a mobile, progressive, deformable obstacle". It replaces the previous scenario “frontal impact on a deformable, offset obstacle”. With the new crash test, the organization assesses how well the occupants are protected in the passenger cell and how much the front crumple zone contributes to this protection. The specifications for a side impact have also been updated and tightened: the barrier that hits the side of the test vehicle is now heavier and faster. In addition, for the first time, the Euro NCAP not only assesses the risk of injury to the driver, but also the protection of the occupants on the side of the vehicle facing away from the crash. The focus is also on a potential collision between driver and front passenger in the middle of the vehicle
