Also new is the GR Yaris' high-performance three-cylinder engine. With 192 kW/261 hp and a maximum torque of 360 Nm, it is the most powerful unit of its kind and also the slimmest and lightest 1.6-liter turbo engine. It fully complies with the basic technical regulations for the WRC2 class, the second division in the World Rally Championship. It helps the production model achieve remarkable performance: It accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h. The design incorporates modern racing technology, such as piston crown cooling via multi-nozzles, large-diameter exhaust valves and a turbocharger with single-scroll ball bearing. And since the GR Yaris weighs in at just 1,280 kilograms, it has an extremely high-performance power-to-weight ratio of 4.9 kilograms per horsepower.
