The Land Rover Discovery has been around since 2014. Now the successor of the Freelander is getting a facelift. And in addition to a slightly revised exterior, this includes new engines, new assistance systems and a new infotainment. But the new Discovery Sport has a lot more to offer. What the new one costs, what it cosumes, what updates it has on board and how it drives I explain during my test drive in the new Land Rover Discovery Sport D240 R-DYNAMIC S Source: http://quickcarreview.com
The new Lexus UX 300e - Electrifying performance
The new Lexus UX 300e has a specially developed, fully electric drive train that combines driving comfort and performance. A powerful electric motor meets front-wheel drive and a large lithium-ion battery. This is where the premium brand draws on its experience with the more than 1.8 million hybrid vehicles produced worldwide since 2005. The all-electric Lexus UX 300e uses the latest lithium-ion battery technology, which features high density electrodes and an intelligent plug-in process. Its size has been carefully designed to meet the needs of drivers in European metropolitan areas: Range and driving dynamics are well balanced. The compact and lightweight battery also contributes to the overall efficiency of the compact model and allows the space and practicality familiar from urban crossovers.
Mercedes-Benz has started producing high-performance batteries for its all-electric luxury EQS at its Stuttgart-Hedelfingen plant, as part of the Untertürkheim location in Germany. The EQS marks the start of a new generation of high performance electric vehicles and will offer-a range of more than 700 km (based on WLTP), based on a high efficiency powertrain and advances in battery energy density. Having integrated battery production seamlessly alongside existing transmission production, the Hedelfingen plant has been transformed into an important part of the company’s global battery production network. The quick ramp-up of its global battery production capacities and targeted expansion of battery competencies through the entire value chain are the key pillars of Mercedes-Benz electric initiative - from basic research, cell production up to batteries’ afterlife including 2nd-life applications and recycling. This in-house know-how and vertical integration is key for playing a leading role in electric vehicles. In addition to scaling up the EQS battery production, the Mercedes-Benz Drive Systems Campus Untertürkheim will specifically expand its research and development activities in the field of e-mobility - through a campus for electric and electrified drive systems- as announced earlier this month.
The all-new 2022 Kia Carnival Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) replaces the outgoing Sedona to become a multifaceted and unexpected companion. Staking claim on the unoccupied space between SUV and family hauler, the Carnival arrives with a new name and is the first vehicle to be sold in the U.S. with Kia’s new logo proudly displayed on its sculpted hood. It pushes the boundaries on expected fronts in much the same way the Kia K5 did to redefine what a midsize sedan should be. Penned at Kia’s California design studio, the Carnival wears a bold and boxy appearance and conveys the visual language found on the brand’s recent and highly successful line of rugged utility vehicles - Telluride, Sorento, and Seltos. Inside, the three-row seven- or eight-passenger MPV delivers a premium level of refinement, savvy technology, and flexibility. And with best-in-class passenger room and best-in-class cargo room there is enough space to accommodate people, playthings, or plywood, depending on the day’s errands…or adventures. The Carnival is motivated by a 3.5-liter V6 engine making a best-in-class 290 horsepower. This powertrain provides up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity for confident trailer, boat, or camper excursions. And that confidence is amplified by an expansive roster of standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)1. Together, these elements make Carnival an exceptional combination of modern design, capability, safety and luxury.
