The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Highlights

Toyota offers the Prius Plug-in Hybrid optionally with a large solar roof. It has a rated output of around 180 watts and increases the electrical range of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid by up to five kilometers per day. In eight days, the high-voltage battery can be charged to a maximum of 80 percent of its charge volume - which corresponds to a range of around 40 kilometers. With 200 days of sunshine per year, this figure adds up to around 1,000 additional kilometers that can be covered free of CO2 and costs. When the car is parked in the sun, the energy gained is first stored in a separate battery and then fed into the drive battery via a so-called pump voltage. In addition, the solar system charges the vehicle's 12-volt battery during the journey to relieve the vehicle's electrical system and supply the lighting, air conditioning and other electrical consumers, for example. This further reduces fuel consumption and increases the efficiency of the hybrid system by up to three percent. The innovative solar roof can be ordered in the "Prius Plug-in" version for 2,924.39 euros (including 16 percent VAT).
